How HydroScout collects, uses, and protects the information you share while conducting Section 81 water transfer screening.
1. PIPEDA Compliance
HydroScout is operated by 5th Meridian Digital Consultancy Inc. In accordance with PIPEDA, we collect personal information for the purposes of providing, securing, and improving the platform. We collect only the information reasonably required for those purposes and obtain consent where applicable.
- Business Contact Information: Professional email address and firm/company name submitted through lead capture, token provisioning, and export authorization flows.
- Technical Telemetry: IP address, standard browser headers, and API query latency metrics used for security, abuse prevention, and performance monitoring.
- Session State: Authentication tokens and quota counters stored in browser session/local storage to maintain a secure, uninterrupted analysis session.
You may request access to or correction of your personal information, or ask us to cease processing it, by contacting connect@5th-meridian.com.
2. Spatial Query Confidentiality
User-submitted project coordinates, search radii, and exported Section 81 assessment footprints are treated as confidential work product. They are never shared, sold, or aggregated for public viewing, and are not used to infer the commercial projects of any individual client.
Your spatial analyses, selected licence portfolios, and generated prospectus briefs belong to you. HydroScout does not publish, license, or re-purpose proprietary query geometry or assessment footprints, and does not expose one client’s work product to another.
3. Data Storage & Transmission
- Encryption in Transit: All traffic between your browser and HydroScout is encrypted with TLS 1.3.
- Storage: Data is stored on Neon PostgreSQL infrastructure hosted in AWS regions Canada Central (ca-central-1) and US East (us-east-1), protected by network isolation and role-based access controls.
- At Rest: Encrypted storage volumes and encrypted database backups are retained only as long as required for operational continuity and regulatory audit.
4. Cookies & Analytics
HydroScout uses essential session storage for authentication, session state, and quota tracking, and optional anonymous performance analytics for latency and diagnostic monitoring. Your cookie preference is respected via the Cookie Settings manager. You may accept all cookies, essential-only cookies, or update your preferences at any time.
